I’m Matthew Beveridge, and I am running for Hamilton City Council in the West Ward at the 2025 Local Body elections.
I was born and raised in Auckland and have lived in Hamilton West for seven years. I work in internal communications and am currently completing my PhD in politics. I’ve worked in local and central government, the private sector, and run my own business. These experiences have shaped my well-rounded understanding of our city’s needs.
I care deeply about fairness and want Hamilton to be a city that’s both liveable and affordable. I believe everyone should have access to the services and amenities that make life enjoyable. As your West Ward councillor, I’ll protect core services, strengthen community engagement, and help ensure Hamilton remains a place where everyone feels they belong.
I’m here to serve the community—not to build a name for myself. If elected, I’ll work with fellow councillors to address the issues that matter, build strong connections with residents, and ensure we meet the needs of a growing Hamilton.
One of my top priorities is to collaborate on solutions for challenges like water services and the rising costs that come with them. I’m also committed to making sure Hamilton’s growth doesn’t leave anyone behind. Whether you’re a renter, a young family, or someone doing it tough, you deserve a city that supports you.
As your Hamilton West Ward councillor, I’ll be approachable, focused on solutions, and responsive to your concerns. My goal is to help shape a Hamilton that’s even better for everyone—today and into the future.
